We are all aware of the phrase “When one door closes, another opens” but in reality we could never spot that open door; not even a tiny window. But trust me that door actually exists, after all experience speaks a lot, you know! I’m a big fan of Italian food; specially Pizza. Pizza with chilled beer is my kind of ideal lazy Sunday dinner.
The idea of making pizza base at home never struck me until I had few horrible experiences with a renowned pizza chain. I always opt for their home delivery service and I’m their regular since last 3 years. Gradually I’ve experienced their delivery service getting poor to poorer and recently it had become worst. They had started to compromise on the food quality. Sometimes a complete different order is delivered; sometimes part of the order just went missing completely (though they were very much present in the bill). But last Sunday their unprofessionalism broke my patience when they delivered a pan pizza without any cheese and with a handful of chicken pieces on top whereas I ordered something with cheese and loads different meat.
My frustration drove me crazy to make a change in my routine and I decided to try my hands on Homemade Pizza Dough. As I never handled yeast or any kind of bread I preferred to play in safe mode and picked this recipe of Homemade Yeast Free Pizza Dough. I’m so glad that I actually tried it. I won’t waste my worthy money on those stupid pizza chains again.
Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 10 mins
Resting Time: 240-300 mins
Total Time: 325 mins
Yield: two 9” pan pizza or four 9” thin crust pizza
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
All-purpose flour: 3 cup
Baking powder: 1 tsp
Baking soda: 1/8 tsp
Yogurt: ½ cup
Oil: ¼ cup
Sugar: 1 tbsp
Salt: 1 tsp
Equipment:
Sieve
Large mixing bowl with lid
Damp cloth
Preparation:
In a large bowl sieve flour, baking powder baking soda, sugar & salt together. It is always better to use powdered sugar for any dough if possible.
Make a small well in the middle of the flour mixture and pour oil in it. Now rub half of the oil and flour mixture together in your palms. It will look a bit crumbled.
Drop the rest of the oil in the mixture and follow the same procedure to rub it with flour mixture. At the end it will look like crumbled coarse mixture. (See the picture)
Now add the yogurt and start kneading the dough.
In the beginning it will look like a big mess. But continue kneading and gradually it will produce super soft & smooth dough.
Cover the dough with a clean damp cloth and allow it to rest for 4-5 hrs. (I kept in rest for 6 hrs.) After the resting period the dough will be almost double in size and it will be pliable comfortably. (See Tips)
Now when your dough is ready, knead one last time for 1-2 mins to make sure it is completely pliable and smooth.
Finally your Homemade Yeast Free Pizza Dough is ready for delicious pizzas. Choose your favorite toppings and sauce and here you go to have fresh pizzas from your own pizzeria. Or you can wait for few more hours and I’ll share what I did with my pizza dough.

Tips:
1. It is important to keep the dough covered with a wet kitchen towel to avoid dry stretchy dough.
Enjoy pizza night at home!
