“Pussy cat pussy cat where have you been?”
Do you guys remember this rhyme? Of course you do, (silly me!) we all do. How can we forget our favourite childhood rhyme? In case you are wondering why I am mentioning a phrase from children’s book let me clear the air for you. Actually this is what people are asking me these days. You must have noticed my absence in past couple of weeks. Few people came forward to ask whether I’m sick or something happened to me; few are assuming I’m gone with the wind after sharing a popular recipe of Nolen Gurer Mishti Doi. But guys I haven’t gone anywhere; in fact I’m very much alive and kicking and I have a request to you (read, I need your help) on which I’m coming back later.
To tell you the truth I was busy in doing some major changes on Scratching Canvas. I had started this journey of blogging in July of 2012 and after 4 years I realized I need a change, an upgrade. So I’m shifting and Scratching Canvas is moving to new home. Scratching Canvas is now using WordPress platform after spending four long years with blogger. Finally I had said adios to the blogger. Now it’s official!
It’s not that I have any hard feelings for blogger or something else. In my opinion it still provides the best service to newbie bloggers. But there are times in life when we take a step further to climb up the ladder. And for me it is the time to take a step further and move on! What’s the point of doing all the studies and home works on time, scoring well in exams and still spending another year in the same class? Who does that? None. And that’s the point!
A different platform comes with a huge responsibility and loads of hard work (more than before). Scratching Canvas got a whole new makeover with a new design, theme, menus, coding and many more. In menus, categories with giant results got smaller sub categories. Like ‘dessert’ has been divided into Indian, international along with cake & cupcakes etc. Few new categories have been introduced to menu for quicker access; like low calorie, zero oil, vegan etc. More exciting news is now major categories can be found on the homepage itself; like Bengali delicacy, Vegetarian, seasonal special etc. without further digging.
I’ve spent past two weeks to transfer all the data from blogger to WordPress and trust me it is one nut job I’ve done in recent days. I tried my best to cover all the assets I had on blogger but still there are few loose ends which need to be tied. So here is my request to all of you (told you on opening of this post, remember?); please go through the website (www.scratchingcanvas.com) and surf according to your preference. Check your favourite recipes again (I insist) as it will be a whole new experience with larger images (more details) and the bonus point is newly added feature ‘printable recipe’. Though all old recipes won’t show the printable version right now currently I’m working on the new recipes only. In near future you can get the print friendly recipes for all old and new recipes.
This is where I need your help, desperately. Please do the test for me guys whenever you feel right. I’ve done (and still doing) as much as possible but still few can be left out unintentionally. Help me to grow stronger and better as host, as a recipe developer and overall as a food blogger.
So is this all what I’ve done in past weeks? No! I did some (read, a lot) online shopping in the name of prop collections which I’ll share with you shortly; sipped in different types of tea from various tea cups which are part of my cup/mug collection and got addicted with Twinning’s Earl Gray, roamed here & there in search of rain (the legend of Maharashtra) to receive nothing but few droplets. And oh yes if you are following me on Instagram you already know that I read hell lot of Japanese crime thrillers and became a fan of Keigo higashino. Everything else is pretty much same where I had left them.
Guys do let me know your feedback on the new avatar of Scratching Canvas including your likes and dislikes. I’m all ears for your valuable suggestions. You can drop a line or two in the comment below or email me at [email protected].
And as always join me on Facebook and/or Instagram for quicker response.
P.S. The above snaps portray my activities in past couple of weeks apart from working on the website.
