Do you enjoy Durga Puja in Pune? Let me rephrase my question, how much do you know about Pune Durga Puja? Do you know there are around 30+ Durga Puja in Pune city and greater Pune? Yes it is correct! The number is more than 30.

It is no secret that Durga Puja is the biggest festival in Bengali life. It is beyond any region, country or cultural differences. Those who can enjoy Durga Puja in Kolkata or West Bengal they are the luckiest people on mother earth to me. But unfortunately there are many people like me who cannot be present at Kolkata during Durga Puja and honestly that’s the saddest moment of our life while people in Kolkata have a time of their lifetime.

When I got shifted here in Pune the first thing came to my mind was how would I live during Durga Puja in Pune!!! How!! Then my tedious job began to find out Durga puja in Pune and boy that was hell of a job. In the beginning year I knew nothing about the city, not even a single person. I searched over internet, social media but sadly nothing much came out. Then I was on the same journey on second year and this time I walked, roamed did every possible thing I could. And now after 6 good years I know about more or less 30 Durga Puja in Pune.

I know how hard it is to spend days and nights during Durga Puja outside West Bengal where Durga Puja is not celebrated by the entire city/state. So I’m penning down about all those Pune Durga Pujas. Hope this will save others time and will bring a smile on face.

Hi Panchali, thank you so much for your love. A lot of Puja are being organized these days in Pune. Even I have not visited them all (hence few location are missing here). This year I will try to cover them but not sure how far I can go. If you visit those places please update me 🙂

For authentic taste of bengali ‘Mach-Bhat’ go to Radhika Bengali Food at Viman Nagar. I personally love the taste of their food (they did not pay me a dime for mentioning their name) and their consistency in quality of their food. There are many other food joints for bengali food in Pune but the food quality and taste are not consistent in my opinion. They also serve the ‘Shorshe Mach’ you are looking for, just give them a call and confirm before you go there. Hope you will enjoy the food 🙂
