Hello foodie people, I’m back (again) with a lip smacking cocktail recipe, Irish Red Lemonade, a Whiskey cocktail for your tipsy Tuesday! I know my absence in blogging and recipe sharing has turned into a peek-a-boo game and you owe my apology for that. So before I vanish from people’s mind I thought it might be the high time to remind everyone that I’m alive! And what could be a better apology than a delicious cocktail! What say?
This year the frequency of my posting on blog including social media has turned so low that the essence of blogging is actually fading away from my life! As the result Scratching Canvas is turning into a blank canvas without any scratches. There are so many things are happening around me, with me that things are already beyond my limitations. My health is showing its true nature, 100% stubbornness and has refused to reflect any improvements at all, not even a sleek possibility. Result? More tests and new medications! I’m already feeling like a guinea pig and sort of betrayed by my own body!
Then in the middle of this mess I had to visit my hometown for a family emergency which caused more troubles than I could ever imagine. I missed my medicines for couple of times, I had to rely on outside food which was literally hard like a nutshell to crack with all my allergies and restrictions. And then later I went greedy on all those streetfoods and sweets which worked like poison on my diabetic and hormonally dysfunctional body.
But the silver lining is I had clicked couple of pictures, mostly food which I’m sharing on social networking sites since past few days. If you are following me on Instagram you must have noticed these special pictures already. (Please excuse the quality of these pictures as these are taken from my mobile phone only.)
These hectic schedules left me with advance mood swing and depression. I needed to refresh my energy to flush down the negativity from my life! What else could give me that kind of freedom other than blogging and photography! So here I am with my usual not so good photographs and an unusual cocktail recipe. Actually these shots were trial of my still life photography and pouring skills which I was experimenting few weeks ago. They were never meant to be featured on the blog as a recipe post.
I had handful of fruits at home and wanted to play around with my lens under the light & shadow. So I googled for fruit recipes and bookmarked couple of them but after spending few good hours I got lazy (story of a lazy bum you see) and searched for quicker options. And that is when I came to know about this whiskey cocktail recipe called Irish Red Lemonade! I dint have any idea about its existence, not even a nano second before! As a whiskey lover I always have couple of shots saved in my bar so it didn’t took me more than two minutes to decide I needed it then & there!
Read the entire recipe and tips carefully before you start cooking.
Do make sure all ingredients are at room temperature (unless mentioned) and weighed or measured correctly in appropriate weighing machine or measuring instruments such as cups or spoons. Remember these are not our regular cups or spoons which we use in our daily life.
- Irish whiskey: 120 ml
- Red grapes: 500g
- Pomegranate: 2, large
- Lime juice: 20 ml
- Chilled water: 500 ml
- Sweetener to taste, (As sweet cocktails are not my thing I dint use any)
- Wash and clean fruits and pat dry.
- Take pomegranate seeds, red grapes and water in a food processor and pulse for 2-4 times or just until seeds release juice.
- Add sweetener at this point (if using any) according to personal preferences.
- Strain out the seeds and discard. Repeat the process 2-3 times if needed.
- Pour the fresh juice, whiskey and lime juice in a large pitcher and stir.
- Serve in ice filled tall glasses with mint leaves. Enjoy!
Use vodka or tequila or white rum instead of whiskey to create variations.
Use soft drinks to replace whiskey for non-alcoholic version.
Don’t blend them as blended seeds will add bitterness to the juice.
Use store bought juice for instant juice mix.
Eat, Love & Enjoy! Repeat!!!
