TGI Fridays in Seasons Mall, Magarpatta City is just like an oasis in dessert! The mall remains mostly deserted except weekends and there is hardly any good place to enjoy some good time. Though the mall has number of options for food yet they are not upto the mark for me. On the other hand number of shops is very limited for shopping too. So to me it’s a place to either enjoy a movie or TGI Fridays. After all who doesn’t want a weeklong Fridays!
Ambiance:
Whenever we step into a restaurant ambiance gives us the first impression about it. Once you step into TGI Fridays you will want to come back again and again, even without touching the food. They have both indoor and open-air seating arrangements. Both sections are well designed even you can keep your privacy alive in comparatively small indoor section. They always got a good collection of trance or hip-hop. I can spend an entire evening there by listening to the music over cocktails! Only the glass partition wall will keep reminding you that you are actually inside a mall which is a bit distracting for me. Then again you can’t have all good things under one roof at the same time
Food:
Fridays Tostado Nachos @425
Honestly speaking I’m not a fan of nachos but once in a while it goes well with drinks for me. Especially nachos with minced meat is one of those quick bites which can’t go wrong any way. I only order these nacho dishes when either I’m too hungry to sort out the menu or I can’t find anything else reliable. At TGIF I was going through the 1stphase. So without any hesitation I ordered simple nachos with minced lamb and thought this will provide me enough strength to go through the menu. Alas! Nachos were crunchy but topping was so lame! It was tasteless blunt and without any seasoning. I would have appreciated it if I was in a local bar or something but I was in TGIF; The TGIF! So no excuses are acceptable for such a lame dish from an international restaurant chain.
Sirloin Steak with Onion Ring and Parmesan Tomato@540
This is the best thing I had that night after my ultimate margarita of course! I ordered the steak with red wine sauce and I prefer my steak as medium rare which I hardly find in proper way in Pune. Somehow they always find a way to cook it to medium to well done. So I was glad when I saw my steak perfectly medium rare! It was a surprise for me especially after the disappointing nachos. Steak was juicy and tender and sauce was well balanced with the hint of wine. Onion rings are crunchy but bit greasy. Another best thing on the palate was Parmesan tomato. A firm whole tomato with parmesan and herbs inside was a good surprise. The cheesy tangy punch balanced the whole dish perfectly.
Country Fried Chicken @340
As the name refers it is crumb coated fried chicken breast with grilled veggies, corn cob & parmesan mashed potatoes. When I order fried chicken I expect soft & tender chicken breast under crunchy breaded crust. Unfortunately here the chicken was succulent but there was no crunch in the dish. What a shame! Anyways rest of the food on the plate was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes was creamy buttery & smooth; I just loved the taste & texture!
Ultimate Margarita (Strawberry & Lime) @695
The best thing I’ve found in TGI Fridays is the margarita; rather to say their Ultimate Margarita. They are the best in town undoubtedly. I’ve tried both strawberry and lime version and both had enough alcohol to make you smile. Even their jumbo glasses made me smile. But the lime version had little bit excess lime juice which turned the drink bit sour.
Service:
In the beginning there was little bit confusions with the menu but later things got sorted out and the entire dinner went smoothly. Their service is prompt and staffs are polite and helpful. The place is always neat and clean in spite of the crowd.
Pros:
Beautiful ambiance,
Drinks with good amount of alcohol,
Nicely cooked steaks,
Prompt service.
Cons:
Food quality is very much average as an international food chain,
Limited variations; especially in starters,
Bit pricy as per food quality.
Cost:
Cost for two people 3500 INR.
Verdict:
Will I come back? Yes definitely I’ll keep visiting for the drinks and steaks. And probably for the music too.
