Weekends are meant to be relaxed; to gather the strength for the coming week. But Saturday nights are meant to be enjoyed with good food, few glasses of drinks and good music to tap our toes. The Irish House is doing the perfect justice to each day by turning them as Saturdays nights. The place is a must visit for all foodie who has the ear for good music. It is situated on the second floor of Phoenix Market City, Viman Nagar; just opposite to the PVR. The unique décor, sitting arrangements, framed catchy tag lines on the wall, good music, great food; all are equally responsible to push this place as one of the happening joint in Pune. Here is my experience at The Irish House.
Ambiance:
Ambience is the first thing we notice about any joint but here, in The Irish House you will be greeted with their beautifully mixed music first and the well played trance will take you there deeper and deeper. As music came first to my mind when I thought abou this place, I must mention about the DJ here. He was so good with his skills that we couldn’t stop moving our legs. Apart from the music I liked the décor; dark brown wooden décor gives the feel of comfort; specially those funny lines in picture frames.

Drinks:
Coffee & Passion fruit Margarita@ 495
I’m not a beer person so I needed the menu for my drinks. A quick scan in the menu and I instantly knew what my order will be. The most unique addition to the menu is Coffee & Passion fruit Margarita. I’m a lover of both coffee & margarita and when I saw these together I couldn’t think of anything else. So it had to be there on my table and it was delicious. In fact it is probably the best margarita I ever had. It has a strong taste of coffee and slightly sweet hint of passion fruit syrup, mixed with tequila. Every sip tasted just divine; I had to ask to repeat the drink without any hesitations.
Entrée:
Prawns on a High @ 450
We were planning to order shrimp popcorn then finally ordered Prawns on a High as it was a new thing to us, again. The vodka infused prawns were cooked to the perfection, tossed in spicy harissa sauce and served on baguette slices. But if you are not a heat lover, it will be better to stay away from this. For me it tasted mighty fine but looking at the price I can say few more prawns should be there on the platter.
Main:
The great Irish Fish & Chips@350
Fish & chips are always welcome to me. It’s probably the only thing which I try in every possible place. And this The great Irish Fish & Chips were the best thing we can get here, in Pune. Fish was well cooked and fresh, battered coating was puffy, light & crispy. Chips were crunchy but bit oily. Whereas he onion salad was good with the tartar sauce. On the other hand the mashed peas was crying for seasoning badly. Anyways, the price is good for this hearty meal.
Irish Lamb Pie @575
Baking a pie is an art for me, which needs a perfect crunch on the crust, moist, non-greasy meat/veggies as filling and a crispy browned top. The Irish House has almost nailed it with their Lamp Pie except it was bit salty for my taste (I personally prefer less salt in my food, so that can be a reason). The meat was juicy and tender; carrot was crunchy and perfectly done. The base had a good crunch (even you can listen to the crack). But the top with potatoes were not crunchy enough for me; not even browned at all. But as we placed the order around 11.30 pm so I would like to ignore this part. And I’ll order it again in future. The sautéed veggies were good accomplished with enough crunch. The only disappointment is, it was way expensive for a single serving pie.
Service:
People seem to be under the ambience in Irish House with ‘happy go lucky’ theme; be it bartender or waiter (already told you about dj). The waiter was so friendly and helpful that he even got me my second drink around 11.50 pm (bar was closing by that time). That guy deserves some credit!
Pros:
Great food,
Awesome margarita,
Great ambience,
Good music,
Interesting décor.
Cons:
Pricy cocktails and food,
Bit loud music,
Little space on dance floor.
Cost:
Cost for two people 2700 INR.
(2 cocktails + 1 entrée + 2 main + tax)
(2 cocktails + 1 entrée + 2 main + tax)
Verdict:
It is a great place to let your hair down after a hard week. I’ll be visiting again and again for the drinks, for the food, for the music; for ‘The Irish House’ magic.
